Student Sex Columns Undermine Traditional Values

tonylisti

According to the Daily Texan (click here for the follow-up article), there are several sex columns in student newspapers across the country. As far as I can tell, all of the sex columns undermine chastity and traditional values among students.

Here is a sampling:

  • One piece at Georgetown University featured talk about about “recycling” human “trash” (i.e. sleeping with a casual hookup more than once).
  • A column at the University of Montana has approved of cohabitation and sex toys.
  • A column at Towson University featured a piece advocating "mutual masturbation."
  • UC Berkley apparently started the first sex column called "Sex on Tuesdays."

Now I'm not saying that the topic of sex shouldn't be discussed in student media. Far from it! In fact, conservatives need to talk more about sex on their campus, promoting the morality of chastity. Whether we like it or not, sex is no longer a topic of merely private conversation. The longer conservatives remain silent about the topic the longer the left is going to dominate the culture war and create abusive, empty, and broken relationships.

Here's what you can do to effectively promote traditional values on your campus:

  1. Start your own conservative publication. Fight fire with fire. You can put an end to the bias by becoming the major media outlet on your campus. Click here to contact your Campus Services Coordinator to get started!
  2. Start or join a chapter of Ruth Youth or Students for Life on CampusReform.org. You owe it to your values to organize to effectively combat the advocacy of values contrary to your own by professors, administrators, and other students. Once you've created the group, blog about your activities to spread the word about your group, create a permanent record of your efforts, and enhance your impact on campus.
  3. Report leftist bias and abuse. Click here for a list of 47 different types of bias and abuse, and determine which are occuring at your school.
  4. Host a conservative speaker. These events are a great way to garner publicity for your message and educate everyone about your views. I highly recommend Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse of the Ruth Institute for the topics of marriage and sexuality.
